SNED is a recurring theme - living on our 20 acres there is surely Something New Every Day.
To keep the acronym theme going, today I LOLed when I worked out what was going on. I went outside to hang some clothes and found some fishing line hanging from the clothes line. I figured it had gotten tangled in the last lot of clothes Tall Boy hung out (and I was retrieving). So I reeled in the end only to see a few metres away, on the ground, the rest of the spool of fishing line, one that had been in my desk drawer outside while we redid our floor (another story). Rather than keep unwinding more line I pulled in the other direction but it was stuck. "Oh, tangled in the clothes" I thought and traced it back, over the top of the clothes line, up into a tree and over a branch and then disappearing off into the bush 50 metres away. I gave a few tugs to a) see if I could figure out where it was ending up and b) to break it - which I did and all I could see was the end flutter to the ground in the distance. I am sure my theory is right: Somewhere a bird has a beautiful nest which incorporates a length of fishing line which, until now, was attached to the spool 100 metres or so away. thought at

You really do have to wonder about a) the intelligence of spammers and b) the intelligence of anyone who got caught by this one.

I often point out that our planet is a fairly insignificant (except to us) speck in a rather large universe.
How large? thought at

This will only appeal to backgammon players, but you might get the idea even if you aren't.
Playing a 3 point match online against an anonymous player. I win the first game. Second game I get 3 or 4 pieces off, get forced into an error, get hit and am behind a 6 point prime. I offer to resign, since I already have a piece off there is no gammon. Opponent refuses. There is no communication in this game so I can't say "give it up" or anything. I just keep offering to resign each move, opponent keeps refusing. Then there is finally an opening on the 6 point and you can guess what I rolled. 6-6, rip around the board and suddenly I am in front! Opponent exits game. Like, not even resigns or anything, just spits dummy and quits out of game. I laugh hard. Backgammon is never over until it is over. thought at

unAustralians may not be aware that Australia has a new "leader" of its opposition
I cant be bothered going into the details of who he is, his background nor why he is leading us into the past. The "common Australian" was once described as Howard's Battlers ireferring to our former Prime Minister John Howard. Tony Abbott while trying to embrace the past and the future at the same time has renamed this mob Abbotts Army...but they forgot to register www.AbbottsArmy.com.au. I didn't...recruitment for Abbotts Army is now open. That should get it into the search engines. thought at
